Two routes, very different experiences
Ferry (Versova jetty → Madh jetty). The short crossing locals use daily; a few minutes on the water, then a short ride to the township gate. Services thin out in heavy monsoon and late at night.
Road (via Marve Road, Malad West). Fully reliable year-round, but the detour around the creek is about 21 km from Versova and can take up to 90 minutes in peak traffic.
Both change when the bridge opens: the same trip becomes roughly 1.5 km, a few minutes by car, any time of day, any season.

Madh–Versova cable-stayed bridge
2.06 km elevated, with a ~600 m cable-stayed section and a 300 m main span, built by APCO Infratech for BMC at an approved cost of about ₹2,395 crore. Approved, contracted and legally cleared — not yet built.

Quiet by default
Beaches, farms and film studios instead of high streets. Density is a fraction of Andheri's, and the sea is a walk away.
Daily needs, locally
Local markets, clinics, cafés and schools exist on the island and in Malad West. Bigger retail and hospitals are on the mainland.
Improving access
The bridge, the Versova–Dahisar coastal road and metro expansion all point the same way: the island gets closer to the city.

Two ways: the Versova–Madh ferry, which is a few minutes across the creek but runs reduced services in heavy monsoon, or by road via Marve Road from Malad, roughly 45–90 minutes from Andheri depending on traffic.
When will the Madh–Versova bridge open?
BMC's 2.06 km cable-stayed bridge was legally cleared by the Bombay High Court in September 2026. The contract assumed about three years of construction, so plan around 2029–30.
Are there schools and hospitals nearby?
There are local schools and clinics on the island and in Malad West, but large hospitals and the well-known schools are on the mainland, 30–60 minutes away today. This is the trade-off buyers should plan around.
